 Hi  webadmins:
     This letter tell you how to add news to our website.
     1. Only webadmins have the permission to add news,on the top of  the left column,you can find the User Menu. if the first item is Administration Menu, this meams you are the webadmin.
     2. How to add news to our website.
         1.Click the Administration Menu ,then click the new button which located left of the page. After clicking we turn to the News Administration page.
         2.In the News Administration page, click the Post/Edit News. on the top ,we can find the news which have been published. on the buttom of the page you can add news . something you must notice :
                  1,In the place of  Topic you can choose the news type Events and News.
                  2, There are two news edit area.first is add Abstract,if it is nul you must add some blank space .the second is main body. in the main body field, when you add picture to the page the wide of the picture never more than 700px,and you uploads the picture the wide of the picture never more than 3000px,which can be controlled by software.
                  3.when you add news,you must click two times of the button Post.

How to play with the new web site of DSLab?

    hello, this is a whole new web site of DSLab, it may be "strange" to U, so, here, I give you a basic illustration, and any new usage will be updated here:

For the Members:  

    1. Member Management    

    the members are not allowed to register themself currently for avoiding the spams, so, if you found there is NO user info in the "Members" list, please send an E-mail to dslab-programming@dslab.lzu.edu.cn with your basic information, for example:

  • Login Name: (the [nick] name, will be listed as the last column in the "Members" list, and you can use it to login the DSLab site)
  • Real Name: (your full name, will be listed as the first column in the "Members" list)   
  • Ocuupation: (this is a very important information to the people who will access our web site, so, it will be listed as the second column in the "Members" list)
  • E-mail: (okay, if sb. want to contact U, it may be very important)
  • Web-Site: (your private web site, which will be set as the link of your "Real Name", Perhaps you can refer to "Private WebPage Management" Part of this document(recommend), or, just use your web-site on the old DSLab, or set it as your blog site, please refer to "Blog Site Management")
    2. Private WebPage Management

    I think this is very important to you, if anybody want to know detials about who you are? except the "stiff" "User info"(the link of the last column in the "Members" list) , you can provide a web page to him with more information of yourself. perhaps you have built a web site on the old DSLab site, if you don't want to move it here, preserve it, if you don't have one, perhaps you'd better create a new one via following these steps:

  • Login in PLEASE
  • Edit your private page
    Hit this linkand Press the left button(Edit) to edit your own private page.(of course, you can hit this link directly.)
  • Find out the link of your private page       
    list the page of your own via this linkfind out the link address via "Copy Link Location" after pressing the right button of your mouse on the link.
  • Set the link of your private page as your own web site
    just set the web-site part of your own Account information(please refer to "Account Information Management").
  • Access your private page
    now, you can access it via the first column of this link(PLEASE don't set this link as the published address, but the above one).

    3. Account Information Management

    after customming the basic information, you'd better custom more information about your Account. it's very easy to do:

  • Login in PLEASE
    you can find out in the "User Menu" on the left side of the homepage, there is a "View Account" Link, Enter into, on the top of the comming page, there are several buttons for telling you how to custom your information.
  • in speciality, I recommend you sumbit your "head portrait" via the "Avatar" button and NEVER touch the "Delete Account" button(do U want to delete your own information? danger!).
  • What's more? the "Inbox" button, it's useful to view who have sent a PRIVATE Message via this site, of course, you can send a PRIVATE Message to sb. after pressing this button. do you find the "send" button on the bottom of the coming page? [Hello, it's easier to send a message to specific user via the "PM" button on the link page of the last column of the  "Members" list]

    4.  Blog Site Management

    At first, you should activate the blog, it is very easy to do that, just come here:
    and then,

  • Enter into the "Admin" link on the top-right of the web page
  • GO to the "CONTROL CENTER"   
  • Hit the "User settings" link, set your user info
  • Press the "update" button on the bottom-left of the web page, you will success.

      why not activate it via this web page directly? after activating it, you can write your blogs now. be happy with it!

    5. Wiki Management

    this module may be helpful to collect the technical materials of DSLab, but should be designed  in a high-level perspective, basically, it should be categorise "cleanly", so, Although every body are allowed to edit it, but a designer who has the "Super Cow Powers" is recommended to design the catalog firstly.

    6. Download Management

    any member can submit some documents via the "Downloads" module, Enter into this module and press the "Submit Download", you can upload a document of your own, but PLEASE set the SUITABLE Category, which will help people find what they want.

For the Administrators:

    1. Member Management

    you just need to ask for the new member to send the basic information to you and add a new member with this information via the "Edit User-->Add User" menu of the "System" module in the "background" administration system(if you are the administrator, you will find the "Administration Menu" on your "User Menu")

    the memberlist module is whole new, developed by falcon@DSLab. 

    2. NEW&Events Management

    you can submit/edit/delete the New/Events via the NEWs module in the "background" Adminstration system if you are the administrator of this module.

    3. Project Management

     it is built on the ws-project module, please access it.

    4. Research Management

    this is a whole new module developed by yanglei@DSLab, it is named "Research".

    5. Resources Management

    this is also a whole new module written by yanglei@DSLab, it it named "Resource" 

    6. "About us" Management

    this is built on the WF-Channel module, you should mange it via this module.

    7. Blog Site Management

    recommend the administrator to design a high-level categories for it too. 

    Recommend to the administrator: the user management system of this new web site is very powerful, we can implement GROUP management and the relative permission management. hence, differenct administration GROUP(s) for differenct modules are recommend for reducing the hazards which will be caused by the misoperation of the administrators.
